Religious Education
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (for children)
Classes for Preschool through High School are held on Sunday mornings from 9:05-10:15am.
Classes start the third Sunday in September and end the first Sunday of May.
Children Preschool through Sixth Grade use the text series "We Believe," which provides age-appropriate lessons. The lesson themes encourage children to live, as well as know their Catholic Faith.
Classes for youth that are Seventh Grade through High School provide ongoing
faith formation. Youth who have been confirmed are encouraged to continue
with Religious Education classes because learning about one's faith is a lifelong
journey. The focus for this age group is morality, social justice and life
choices.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS)
VBS is held every year during the summer. The program runs one week, Monday through Friday, from 9:00-noon.
Children learn Jesus' love for us and one another through crafts, music, bible
stories, games and friendships. Volunteers are always welcome.
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation classes are held on an every-other-year basis and are open to Catholic youths Freshman and older.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION: Reconciliation and First Communion
Children at St. Philip Benizi Parish prepare and receive the Sacrament of
Reconciliation and First Communion for the first time during their Second Grade
year. Preparation for these two Sacraments is during Religious Education
classes on Sunday, from 9:05-10:15am. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is
usually celebrated in the winter and First Communion is celebrated on the first
Sunday in May. A copy of the child's baptismal certificate is required.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION: Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC)
This process is for children who are seven years and older who have not been baptized; or baptized in another faith tradition. Children will attend Religious Education classes that are specifically adapted to their faith formation. Children will receive their Sacraments at the Easter Vigil.
